We all have times in our lives when we face difficult challenges or painful experiences.

Whilst family and friends are a valuable resource, counselling provides a confidential and safe space to talk with a professional who is not directly involved in your life.  

Whatever your reason for seeking our support, our team of qualified and student therapists will listen to you with compassion and respect.  They will work with you to help you understand and explore your story, supporting you to heal the hurt of the past and overcome obstacles in the present. 

Regular, weekly sessions are agreed in order to help you start your recovery journey. Missing sessions severely hinders the therapeutic process and may result in us offering the slot to someone else in need.

A counsellor’s role does not include providing solutions or giving advice. Counselling can help you have greater self-awareness and confidence; empowering you to find your own direction in life and so have more hope for your future.

What Can You Help Me With?

You may already have a good idea of why you want  counselling. Perhaps you are facing a difficult life challenge such as family separation or the death of a loved one or you have had a traumatic experience, now or in the past. 

Sometimes our problems are less easy to define. You may feel worried, overwhelmed or anxious and not really know why. Maybe you feel stuck in life or would just like to feel better about yourself.

The counselling room is your space to bring whatever you bring. And if you are worried you won’t know where to start, your counsellor will help you.

Here are just some of the things we may be able to support you with:

  • Anxiety and Stress

  • Depression (including Post Natal)

  • Sexual, Physical or Emotional abuse

  • Relationship difficulties or breakdown

  • Bereavement

  • Domestic Abuse

  • Low Self-Esteem

  • Addiction

  • Post-traumatic Stress

  • Life transitions including having a baby, redundancy or retirement

  • Suicidal thoughts

If you are worried about coming to counselling or you are not sure this is the right service for you, please call us for an informal and confidential chat. We are happy to help.

When a space becomes available, we will contact you to arrange an initial meeting. This is a chance for you to meet your therapist, talk about how counselling might help and ask any questions you may have. There is no obligation to continue if, after this first meeting, you feel that counselling is not for you. However, if you would like to continue, your therapist will continue to see you each week at the same time.
